Vashisht Temple at Manali, Himachal Pradesh

The Vashisht Temple in old Manali is dedicated to one of the Seven Sages, Vashisht, the guru of Lord Rama in the village Vashisht named after him in Himachal Pradesh. At another state of India called Uttarakhand, there is a gufa or cave where Sage Vashisht meditated. I will be covering the Sage Vashisht cave at Rishikesh, Uttarakhand in another blog.

The temple intricate carving is made of wood and built in Kathkuni architecture style. The temple is believed to be more than 1,800 years old but the black stone statue of Sage Vashisht stated by the Pundit to be approximately 5,000 years old.

There is a hot spring containing at least 50 minerals. Scientists from all over world had come to test the water for its healing properties leaving them perplexed. There are bathing area for both women and men to take bath from the hot spring.

There is another ancient stone temple for Lord Rama adjacent to the Vashisht Temple. Inside the Lord Rama temple are the idols of Sita, Rama and Lakshman.

Before entering the Vashisht temple, to the right is a Lord Shiva temple.

Sage Vashisht is of importance for his contribution for his teachings.

Below picture is the Lord Shiva temple within the vicinity. You would see this temple first before reaching the Sage Vashisht temple. There is a carving at the top wood above the Lord Shiva temple which can also be seen at the top of the Sage Vashisht temple. Just wanted to draw your attention to it as it could easily be missed.
